PHOENIX (ARIZONA) BILTMORE REAL ESTATE

The "Biltmore Area" is a common reference to the exclusive residential and shopping corridor that is bound (east and west) by 24th and 44th streets, and (north and south) by Campbell and Lincoln. The Biltmore area reference gets its name from the Arizona Biltmore. This Phoenix landmark has pampered guests since the 1920s. Its grounds and golf courses are surrounded by some of the most exclusive homes in the valley.

Residents in the Biltmore area enjoy the posh lifestyle associated with the Biltmore as a travel and leisure destination.

A couple of interesting Biltmore facts you may not know:

  • The (Phoenix) Arizona Biltmore was not designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, but rather by Albert Chase McArthur, a Harvard trained architect. McArthur was commissioned by his own family to design the resort. Mr. McArthur paid FLW for the use of his textile block system; it was later discovered via lawsuit that Wright did not own the patent to the block system, and only claimed ownership due to desperate financial circumstances in his own life.
  • In the early 70’s Taliesin was commissioned as the architectural firm to oversee and manage the repairs and renovation to the property that was necessary due to a fire that created extensive fire and water damage to the 3rd and forth floors of the hotel. An example of FLW/Taliesin’s unfamiliarity with MacArthur’s design is evident today as anyone can see that several of the textile blocks that were re-cast and installed were actually installed upside-down and sideways!
